Introduction
My ISearch topic is Columbine, the biggest school shooting in American history. There are many reasons I picked this topic. One of them is I find the gunman’s original plan so out of the ordinary it makes so interesting. I also love learning about the victims lives because I can relate to them so much. I feel like this is an important topic to talk about to help stop this from ever happening again. Also I have had an obsession with this for awhile and I feel it is important to be honest about it and tell people about it I feel it gives people a sense of security with the thought “Well if this kid actually wanted to do what they did they wouldn’t say anything relating to that subject” I mean I’m not stupid if I actually wanted to do what they did I’d be doing this project on pop punk.
This topic is important to me because it’s an important part of my life at school which I feel is pretty self explanatory. I also feel like we are a country sweep this massive problem under the rug. We care more about people illegally entering the country causing little real issues and only trying to escape their country for the sake of survival then we do about kids going into their school which is supposed to be a safe place made for learning and not killing large numbers of people. I also feel it is important because it could shed some light on the real warning signs and how to help people if you see they are starting to feel that way.
To better understand my topic I picked three subtopics. The first one is the victims were I will be looking into the lives of the victims. The second one is The possible reasons the massacre happened and possible ways it could've been stopped. My final subtopic is how it affects us today where I will look at the differences in schools and in other things they most would think has nothing to do with Columbine like medicine. I will also have a newscast based on the event. I will also be interviewing two people in which one is a police officer. Hopefully by the end of my project you will have a better understanding of the topic.
